Canal du Midi:

Old over 350 years and 240km long it extends from Toulouse to Sète. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996. The canal was created by the great bitter Pierre Paul Riquet, with the help of no less than 12,000 workers. It is a local identity for the region thanks to its beauty and majesty. It has always been used for economic development (agriculture, viticulture, freight, among others ..). It crosses many communes with which one can sail, pedal and walk on the edge of it. Many trails have been set up for the greatest pleasure of all its followers.
The 9 locks of Fontserannes are classified also historical monument, great site of Occitanie, and like the channel of the midi, world inheritance of humanity by UNESCO. They are an unmissable place during your visit to Béziers and its canal du midi.

Béziers:

Located 21km from Cessenon sur Orb, this French commune in the department of Herault, in Occitanie, is between land and sea, surrounded by vineyards, water, near the Mediterranean Sea and the plain, which makes it is an ideal and essential place to discover.

The Cathedral St Nazaire and its point of view on the Region, are not to be missed. But also the famous Canal du Midi, the 9 locks of Fontserannes, the old bridge, the alleys Paul Riquet, the municipal theater, the plateau of poets in the city center make it a rich tourist attraction and an unforgettable passage during your holidays !!

Close to our campsite Orb Beach, the Orb, French coastal river, 135km long, flows into the Mediterranean Sea, passing through the plain of Bordeaux to end its race in the Sea more exactly in Valras Plage .
L’ORB gave its hydronym to 6 different communes = Cessenon on Orb, Colombières on Orb, La Tour sur Orb, Bousquet d’Orb, Poujol sur Orb and Lignan sur Orb.

St Chinian :

Come visit St Chinian, a village founded in 825 with a monastery, located in the hinterland, near the Cévènnes. This monastery at present is relatively well preserved.
The abbey as for it, was not as lucky as the monastery and was dissolved during the French revolution. The old church, it is currently the village hall. The remains of the old abbey church can be seen behind the hall, (formerly the Cloister).
The village is now well known for its production of wine (mainly producing red and rosé wines).
